Location:

Jalore is located at the foothills of Swarnagiri Mountain just 140 Km from Jodhpur and 340 Km from Ahmedabad. Today it is known as Jalore District of Jodhpur Division and it is 17th Largest district in the State by population.  Sheoganj City, Sumerpur City are the nearby Cities to Jalore. Sirohi, Mount Abu (Arbuda Mountains), Ranakpur, Kumbhalgarh (Kumbhalmer) are the near by Important tourist destinations. In the recent times, the industrial growth in the district, particularly in Jalore, has been remarkable due to the world famous granite tiles and slabs.

Tapobhumi of Mahirishi Jabali:

It has been tapobhumi (Land of Meditation) of Mahirishi Jabali, in the ancient time it was named after him ‘Jabalipur’. Prathihar King Naresh Nagbhatt-II expanded the ambit of his state from Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal. Songara Chouhans later made it their capital. The three main towns Jalore, Bhinmal and Sanchore were ruled by Prathihar, Parmar, Chalukya, Chouhan, Pathan Mughal and Rathore dynasties.
